“It’s not what you look at that matters, it’s what you see“
– Thoreau
Every death makes room for a new beginning. Every loss makes room for something to be found. Though we can’t control input, we can absolutely control how it’s processed. Maybe we can call this taking perspective, maybe it’s more in line with mindfulness, I’m not entirely sure. What I am sure of though, is that you are the only one who determines how something is going to be perceived. You will undoubtedly encounter multiple experiences day-to-day that can be interpreted as positives or negatives, as opportunities or misfortunes. When these dichotomies present themselves, instead of reacting spontaneously, react intuitively. Breathe. Focus. Give yourself the chance to grow as opposed to succumbing to the hindrance of whatever it may be. This will only abate your prospective development.
Use what’s given to you as a tool, as a gift for growth. Once you can start looking at things from this angle almost nothing can derail you because there’s nothing that can be presented to you that’s an obstacle. Every single moment of every single day will deliver to you the opportunity to become a better version of yourself. Even if seemingly nothing is gained, the simple act of consciously choosing presence and positivity will compound within you. You will steadily become a person who is impervious to negative input, because you will receive it in such a way that it is transformed into prosperity. Further, this attitude and outlook is contagious. Without even realizing it your family, your friends, your teammates will all become more naturally resistant to negative input as they watch you seamlessly navigate through it. Be the light that you want to shine on the world. It’s far too easy to sit still and let anger and despair engulf you. It’s all about what you see, so see through it.
